Tucson leads on price ($30,950 vs $35,490 for the hybrids), horsepower, towing (3,000 vs 1,500 lb), cargo space, warranty and published crash ratings. Rogue leads on standard all-wheel drive on every hybrid. Fuel economy is even on current figures (38 mpg each), but the Rogue number is a Nissan estimate. The 2027 Rogue Hybrid is priced and specified; the all-new 2027 Tucson is revealed but not yet priced, so most Tucson figures are 2026 numbers.
Comparison compiled from official manufacturer pricing and specifications, EPA fuel economy data, NHTSA and IIHS safety ratings. NextCarReview did not drive or test these vehicles. See our sourcing policy.
Nissan and Hyundai are both launching new compact SUVs for 2027. The all-new 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid brings Nissan’s e-POWER system to the US, and Hyundai revealed an all-new Tucson on October 1, 2026. This comparison focuses on the hybrids and uses only official numbers: manufacturer prices and specifications, EPA ratings, NHTSA and IIHS results and warranty terms. Our 2027 Nissan Rogue guide and 2027 Hyundai Tucson guide cover each model in more detail.
What Is Confirmed for the 2027 Rogue and Tucson?
| Item | 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid | 2027 Hyundai Tucson |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing | Confirmed: $35,490 to $43,490 | Not announced (2026 used) |
| Hybrid output | Confirmed: 225 hp | Confirmed: 233 hp (US) |

| Towing | Confirmed: 1,500 lb | Confirmed: up to 3,000 lb (hybrid AWD) |
| On sale | SR Tech: fall 2026; full lineup early 2027 | North America in 2027 |
| NHTSA / IIHS | Listed by NHTSA, not yet rated; no IIHS rating | Listed by NHTSA, not yet rated; 2026 Tucson IIHS TSP+ |
Both companies still sell gas versions. Nissan’s 2026 Rogue uses a 201-hp 1.5-liter VC-Turbo engine, and Hyundai’s 2026 Tucson uses a 187-hp 2.5-liter four. Hyundai lists a 184-hp 1.6-liter turbo for the gas 2027 Tucson in the US. Nissan’s 2027 Rogue Hybrid press kit does not cover a 2027 gas Rogue, so the gas comparison below uses 2026 figures.

Which Costs Less: Rogue or Tucson?
Rogue Hybrid prices are Nissan’s confirmed 2027 MSRPs; Tucson prices are 2026 MSRPs from Hyundai’s pricing sheet and June 2026 hybrid release (HyundaiUSA.com now shows higher figures). All exclude destination: $1,575 for the Rogue Hybrid and $1,600 freight for the 2026 Tucson (Hyundai).
| 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid (AWD) | MSRP | 2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid | MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|
| SV | $35,490 | Hybrid SE FWD | $30,950 |
| SR | $37,490 | Hybrid SEL FWD | $32,400 |
| — | — | Hybrid SEL Convenience | $34,650 |
| Platinum | $43,490 | Hybrid Limited | $41,825 |
Tucson leads on hybrid price: $4,540 less at entry level and $1,665 less at the top. The Rogue’s price does include all-wheel drive on every grade, while the Tucson Hybrid lineup now includes front-wheel-drive SE and SEL trims. Nissan’s SR Technology Package costs $4,000 and the SV Premium Package $2,100. Among gas models, the 2026 Rogue S FWD starts at $29,490 (Nissan) and the 2026 Tucson SE at $29,200, so Tucson leads on gas-model starting price by $290.
How Do the Rogue and Tucson Hybrids Compare?
| Spec | 2027 Rogue Hybrid | 2026 Tucson Hybrid | 2027 Tucson Hybrid (confirmed) |
|---|---|---|---|
| System horsepower | 225 hp | 231 hp | 233 hp (US) |
| Engine | 1.5L turbo 3-cyl (148 hp), generator only | 1.6L turbo 4-cyl | 1.6L turbo 4-cyl |
| Torque | Front motor 243 lb-ft, rear motor 144 lb-ft | 271 lb-ft (system) | 279.9 lb-ft (combined, Hyundai spec) |
| Drive | Dual-motor electric AWD, standard | FWD or AWD | FWD or AWD |
| Battery | 1.67 kWh lithium-ion | 1.49 kWh lithium-ion | 1.49 kWh |
| Transmission | None (single-speed electric drive) | 6-speed automatic | 6-speed automatic |
Tucson leads on horsepower: 231 hp today and 233 hp for 2027, versus 225 hp for the Rogue. The Rogue’s engine never drives the wheels; it only charges the battery and powers the motors, which is why Nissan lists motor torque instead of a combined figure, so we do not rank torque. Rogue leads on standard all-wheel drive, which Nissan fits to every grade (Nissan press kit). Hyundai’s 2026 specifications list the Tucson Hybrid’s figures.

Which Gets Better Gas Mileage?
The EPA has not posted 2027 ratings for either hybrid (Rogue listings), so this section compares Nissan’s estimate with current EPA ratings.
| Model | City | Highway | Combined | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2027 Rogue Hybrid AWD | 41 | 36 | 38 | Nissan estimate |
| 2026 Tucson Hybrid Blue AWD | 38 | 38 | 38 | EPA |
| 2026 Tucson Hybrid AWD (other trims) | 36 | 37 | 36 | EPA |
| 2027 Tucson Hybrid FWD / AWD (17-in wheels) | — | — | 42 / 40 | Hyundai target |
| 2026 Rogue gas FWD / AWD | 29 / 28 | 36 / 35 | 32 / 31 | EPA |
| 2026 Tucson gas FWD / AWD | 25 / 24 | 33 / 30 | 28 / 26 | EPA |
Hybrids: even on today’s numbers. Nissan’s 38 mpg estimate matches the EPA rating of the Tucson Hybrid Blue, and beats other Tucson Hybrid AWD trims by 2 mpg. Hyundai’s 2027 target of 40 mpg AWD would put the new Tucson ahead if the EPA confirms it, but both 2027 figures are manufacturer numbers for now. Rogue leads among gas models: 32 mpg combined for the 2026 Rogue FWD versus 28 mpg for the 2026 Tucson FWD (EPA Rogue, EPA Tucson).
Which Has More Cargo Space and Towing Capacity?
| Spec | 2027 Rogue Hybrid | Hyundai Tucson Hybrid |
|---|---|---|
| Cargo, seats up | 31.1 cu ft | 38.7 cu ft (2026, SAE) |
| Cargo, seats folded | 65.9 cu ft | 74.5 cu ft (2026, SAE) |
| Max towing | 1,500 lb | 3,000 lb (2027 hybrid AWD, US) |
| Ground clearance | 8.4 in (SV) / 8.5 in (SR, Platinum) | 8.3 in AWD (2026) |
| Fuel tank | 14.0 gal | 13.7 gal (2026) |
Tucson leads on cargo space by 7.6 cubic feet with the seats up and 8.6 cubic feet with them folded, using Hyundai’s 2026 figures. Tucson leads on towing at double the Rogue’s 1,500-pound rating. Rogue leads narrowly on ground clearance and fuel tank size. Hyundai lists 41.7 cubic feet (SAE) of cargo space for the new Tucson in its global specification table but has not confirmed a US figure.

Which Is Safer: Rogue or Tucson?
Neither 2027 model has crash ratings yet. NHTSA lists the 2027 Rogue e-POWER and the 2027 Tucson Hybrid without ratings, and IIHS has not tested either new design. IIHS’s 2026 Rogue page covers the previous-generation Rogue, so it does not apply to the new hybrid.
The current Tucson is rated: NHTSA gives the 2026 Tucson Hybrid 5 stars overall, with 5-star frontal and side and 4-star rollover scores (NHTSA data), and IIHS names the 2026 Tucson a Top Safety Pick+. Tucson leads on published safety ratings, with the caveat that those ratings belong to the outgoing generation.
| Safety rating | Nissan Rogue Hybrid | Hyundai Tucson Hybrid |
|---|---|---|
| NHTSA overall | 2027: not yet rated | 2026: 5 stars; 2027: not yet rated |
| IIHS award | 2027: not yet rated | 2026: Top Safety Pick+ |
Which Has the Better Warranty?
Tucson leads on warranty. Hyundai lists a 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle warranty, a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and 5 years of roadside assistance (HyundaiUSA.com). Nissan states that every new Nissan includes a 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty (Nissan). The Nissan sources we used do not state basic or hybrid-system coverage for the Rogue Hybrid, so ask the dealer for the written terms.

Which Should You Buy: 2027 Rogue or Tucson?
On today’s official numbers, the Tucson Hybrid leads on price, power, towing, cargo space, warranty and published safety ratings. The Rogue Hybrid leads for buyers who want all-wheel drive as standard on every grade, and its e-POWER design drives the wheels only with electric motors. Fuel economy looks even until the EPA rates both 2027 models.
Timing matters: the Rogue Hybrid SR Tech is arriving now and the rest of the lineup in early 2027, while the all-new Tucson has no US price or on-sale date beyond 2027. If you are also considering Toyota, our 2027 Toyota RAV4 guide covers the RAV4 hybrid.
