The hybrid’s biggest advantage is in town: 43 mpg city versus 28 for the gas model. The cheapest hybrid (Sport 2WD, $34,650) costs $2,300 more than the EX 2WD. At 15,000 miles a year and $3.50 a gallon, 40 mpg instead of 30 mpg saves roughly $440 a year, so the gap pays back in about five years before counting resale value. Drivers who mostly cruise on the highway will see a smaller gain (36 vs 34 mpg).
The gas CR-V uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (190 hp) with a CVT. The hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter engine with two electric motors for 204 hp and noticeably stronger low-speed torque, which is why it is the quicker of the two.
Interior, Space and Tech
Every 2025 CR-V seats five, with a large cargo area of up to about 39 cubic feet behind the rear seats and roughly 76 cubic feet with them folded on gas models. Upper trims add a larger touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather seating (EX-L and Sport-L) and a Bose audio system on the Sport Touring.
