A Modern Classic Reimagined

2026 Mini Cooper (Cooper C):
The base Cooper, which Mini calls the Cooper C, uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 161 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. That replaces the 1.5-liter three-cylinder in pre-2025 base Minis. The EPA rates the 2026 Cooper C 2 Door at 32 mpg combined (27 city/39 highway) on premium fuel. 2026 Mini Cooper S:
The Cooper S carries a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 201 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic; there is no manual option. The EPA rates the Cooper S 2 Door and 4 Door at 32 mpg combined. Prices start at $33,975 for the 2 Door, $34,975 for the 4 Door and $39,075 for the Convertible, all including destination. Mini’s Go-Kart experience mode sharpens throttle and steering response for spirited driving.
2026 Mini Cooper SE (Electric):
This is the biggest correction to earlier versions of this page: the new electric Mini Cooper is not sold in the United States. Mini put its US launch of the electric Cooper and Aceman on hold indefinitely in late 2024, as reported by Carscoops and Autoblog, largely because of steep US tariffs on imported EVs, especially those built in China, where production of both models started. The EPA lists no electric Mini Cooper for the 2025 or 2026 model year.
The figures previously listed here (250 miles of range, 0–60 mph in 6.6 seconds, about $34,000) were not US-market numbers and have been removed. The last electric Cooper sold in the US was the previous-generation 2024 Cooper SE Hardtop 2 Door, which the EPA rated at 114 miles. Mini has said it may bring the electric Cooper to the US later, but nothing is confirmed.
2026 Mini Cooper JCW (John Cooper Works):
For buyers who want the most performance in a small Mini, the John Cooper Works hardtop uses a 228-horsepower, 280 lb-ft version of the 2.0-liter turbo. The EPA rates the JCW 2 Door at 30 mpg combined. It starts at $40,075 including destination; the JCW Convertible starts at $45,775. The 312-horsepower figure that appeared in earlier versions of this page belongs to the JCW Countryman, not the hardtop.
The 2026 Mini Cooper Countryman: The Adventurous Sidekick
The 2026 Mini Countryman is Mini’s largest model, a compact crossover with standard all-wheel drive (ALL4) on US models. Mini says the current Countryman is more than 5 inches longer than its predecessor, at about 175 inches overall.
The Countryman S ALL4 has a 241-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo and is EPA-rated at 27 mpg combined. The JCW Countryman ALL4 makes 312 horsepower and is rated at 25 mpg. The electric Countryman SE ALL4 uses two motors; Mini quotes 313 horsepower with a temporary boost and 0–60 mph in 5.6 seconds. The EPA rates the SE at 212 miles of range on 18-inch wheels (204 miles on 19-inch wheels), not the 270 miles listed in earlier versions of this page.
Pricing for 2026 starts at $40,075 including destination for the Countryman S ALL4 and $48,075 for the JCW Countryman, per Cars.com. Edmunds lists the Countryman SE ALL4 from about $45,200 before destination. Because the federal EV credit has ended, the SE does not qualify for it.

Reviewers generally describe the current Cooper S as lively around town, with quick steering and a willing engine, and note that it feels more grown-up and refined than the previous generation. Common complaints include a firm ride on rough roads, the loss of a manual transmission and a touchscreen-heavy interface.
Mini’s experience modes change the car’s character. Go-Kart mode sharpens throttle response and steering, while other modes prioritize comfort or efficiency. Adaptive suspension is not standard on every trim, so check the build sheet if ride comfort matters to you.
For the Countryman, reviews highlight its much larger cabin and cargo area compared with the old model. The SE ALL4 is quick, but its 204–212-mile EPA range is modest for a $45,000-plus electric crossover, so it suits drivers who can charge at home.
