The 2026 Jeep Wrangler is still the body-on-frame, solid-axle, removable-top SUV Jeep has built in Toledo, Ohio since the JL generation arrived for 2018. For 2026 the changes are mostly in the lineup: the 6.4L HEMI V8 stays on as the new Moab 392 and Willys 392 models, Jeep released a series of limited editions, and the 4xe plug-in hybrid is gone from the official 2026 lineup.
Quick answer: The 2026 Jeep Wrangler starts at $36,035 (2-door Sport) and tops out at $79,995 (4-door Moab 392), plus $1,995 destination, per jeep.com on October 20, 2026. Engines are a 270-hp 2.0L turbo, 285-hp 3.6L V6 and 470-hp 6.4L V8. Jeep lists no 4xe plug-in hybrid in its 2026 lineup.
The 2026 Wrangler is a lineup reshuffle, not a redesign. The Willys 392 is the lower-cost way to get the V8, the 4-door Rubicon is the one to pick for towing, and the 4xe is no longer listed for 2026.
Figures checked against Stellantis media, jeep.com, EPA (fueleconomy.gov), IIHS and NHTSA on October 20, 2026. This is desk research; NextCarReview did not test this vehicle. See our sourcing policy.

2026 Jeep Wrangler Trims and Prices
Jeep.com’s 2026 Wrangler data file (updated October 15, 2026, checked October 20, 2026) lists 17 trim and body combinations. All prices below are base MSRP and exclude the $1,995 destination charge ($2,045 in Hawaii), taxes and options. Source: jeep.com Wrangler.
| Trim | 2-door MSRP | 4-door MSRP |
|---|---|---|
| Sport | $36,035 | $39,040 |
| Sport S | $39,685 | $41,440 |
| Willys | $43,755 | $45,635 |
| California Edition | – | $44,035 |
| 85th Anniversary Edition | – | $47,240 |

| Sahara | – | $48,910 |
| Willys ’41 | – | $49,335 |
| Rubicon | $46,610 | $50,535 |
| Rubicon X | $56,560 | $61,230 |
| Willys 392 | – | $69,995 |
| Moab 392 | – | $79,995 |
The core ladder is Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon and Rubicon X. Jeep’s press kit lists Sahara and Moab 392 as 4-door only, and jeep.com also lists the Willys 392 only as a 4-door. The 2-door range stops at the Rubicon X.
The Willys ’41 is a limited edition. Per Jeep’s January 15, 2026 release, it pairs olive drab-style ’41 paint with tan interior accents, a rear axle locker, 33-inch tires and steel bumpers. It comes with the 2.0L turbo or the 3.6L V6, both with the 8-speed automatic.
What’s New for the 2026 Wrangler
Jeep’s What’s New for 2026 summary lists four changes:
- Moab 392: a 6.4L, 470-hp V8 model with 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires, a 4.56 axle ratio, a Selec-Trac full-time transfer case, two-mode dual exhaust and a cold-air intake hood with water separator.
- Easier doors: a revised door hinge system that Jeep says makes door removal quicker and easier.
- New limited-edition colors: Reign, plus Goldilocks, Joose, Earl Grey and Tuscadero with late availability.
- Willys 2-door hardware: available steel bumpers and a front Warn winch.
There is also a structural update that isn’t in the press kit. The IIHS says that on 2026 Wranglers built after October 2025, Jeep added frame-rail reinforcements to improve driver and passenger protection in small overlap front crashes.

2026 Wrangler 4xe and 392: What Jeep Has Confirmed
4xe plug-in hybrid
Jeep’s 2026 Wrangler press kit lists only three engines: the 2.0L turbo, the 3.6L V6 and the 6.4L V8. It does not include the 4xe plug-in hybrid. The 2026 trim list on jeep.com has no 4xe models either. On January 9, 2026, Cars.com reported that Stellantis was dropping the Wrangler 4xe, Grand Cherokee 4xe and Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid for the 2026 model year.
One loose end: the EPA has published a 2026 Wrangler 4-door 4xe rating of 49 MPGe, 20 mpg on gas alone and 22 miles of electric range. A certified rating does not mean the model is on sale, so check dealer inventory before planning around a 2026 4xe. For how the 4xe performed in earlier model years, see our Wrangler 4xe mpg breakdown.
392 V8 status
The V8 stays in the lineup for 2026, but under new names. The Rubicon 392 is not on the 2026 trim list. Jeep opened orders for the Moab 392 on November 12, 2025 at $79,995, and on January 15, 2026 it confirmed orders in all 50 states, including California. The Willys 392 followed on February 12, 2026 at $69,995, with orders opening in March. It keeps the same 470-hp, 470 lb-ft HEMI and adds 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires, a Tru-Lok locking rear differential, Dana 44 axles, a Selec-Trac full-time transfer case and steel bumpers.
Engines, Transmissions and EPA Fuel Economy
Jeep’s spec sheet pairs the 2.0L turbo and the 6.4L V8 with an 8-speed automatic. The 3.6L V6 comes with either the 6-speed manual or the 8-speed automatic. The 2026 EPA listings show the V6 automatic only on the 4-door. The 2-door is listed with the 2.0L automatic or the V6 manual. The V8 requires premium fuel, while the 2.0L runs on 87 octane (Jeep recommends 91 or higher for best economy and performance).
| Body / engine / transmission | EPA city / hwy / combined (mpg) |
|---|---|
| 2-door, 2.0L turbo, 8-speed auto | 20 / 23 / 21 |
| 2-door, 3.6L V6, 6-speed manual | 17 / 23 / 19 |
| 4-door, 2.0L turbo, 8-speed auto | 20 / 22 / 21 |
| 4-door, 3.6L V6, 8-speed auto | 18 / 23 / 20 |
| 4-door, 3.6L V6, 6-speed manual | 16 / 22 / 19 |
| 4-door, 6.4L V8, 8-speed auto (premium fuel) | 13 / 16 / 14 |

2026 Wrangler Towing and Off-Road Numbers
Towing depends heavily on configuration. Jeep’s 2026 specifications list these maximum trailer weights:
| Configuration | Max trailer weight |
|---|---|
| 2-door (2.0L or 3.6L) | 2,000 lbs |
| 4-door Sport, Sahara (2.0L or 3.6L) | 3,500 lbs |
| 4-door Rubicon, 8-speed auto, 4.10 axle (2.0L or 3.6L) | 5,000 lbs |
| 4-door Rubicon, manual or 4.56 axle | 3,500 lbs |
| 4-door 6.4L V8 (392 models) | 3,500 lbs |
The V8 is not the towing pick. Jeep’s payload figures for those 5,000-lb Rubicon setups are 1,328 lbs (V6) and 1,310 lbs (2.0L).
For off-road use, Jeep quotes crawl ratios up to 100:1, four 4×4 systems and up to 35 inches of water fording. The Rubicon gets the 4.0:1 Rock-Trac transfer case, Tru-Lok front and rear lockers and an electronic front sway-bar disconnect. The Moab 392 uses the 2.72:1 Selec-Trac full-time case instead. Its 35-inch tires give 11.1 inches of ground clearance and a 46.7-degree approach angle, per the spec sheet.
2-Door vs 4-Door 2026 Wrangler
The 4-door costs more at every shared trim level, from $1,755 more on Sport S to $4,670 more on Rubicon X. Here is how the two body styles compare on Jeep’s published figures:
| 2-door | 4-door | |
|---|---|---|
| Seating | 4 | 5 |
| Wheelbase | 96.8 in. | 118.4 in. |
| Overall length | 166.8 in. | 188.4 in. |
| Turning diameter | 32.7 ft | 38.8 ft |
| Max towing | 2,000 lbs | Up to 5,000 lbs |
| Fuel tank | 17.5 gal | 21.5 gal |
| Trims | Sport through Rubicon X | All trims, including Sahara and both 392 models |
| Starting MSRP | $36,035 | $39,040 |
The 2-door’s shorter wheelbase and tighter turning circle suit narrow trails. The 4-door makes more sense if you need rear doors, the Sahara, a V8 or more than 2,000 lbs of towing. If you are also considering Ford, see our 2026 Ford Bronco vs Jeep Wrangler comparison.

Whitecap and the 2026 Special Editions
For its 85th anniversary, Jeep said on November 12, 2025 that it would reveal a new Wrangler special edition on the 12th of each month for 12 months, under the name Twelve 4 Twelve. The first seven releases, from November 2025 to May 2026, are below with the prices Jeep gave at launch:
| Edition (announced) | What it is | Launch price |
|---|---|---|
| Moab 392 (Nov 12, 2025) | 470-hp V8 4-door, 35-inch tires | $79,995 MSRP |
| Whitecap (Dec 12, 2025) | Bright White hardtop, grille and graphics on Sahara and Rubicon | From $495 (Rubicon X), $2,690 (Sahara), $3,185 (Rubicon) |
| 85th Anniversary (Jan 12, 2026) | Plaid seat inserts, Steel Oxide wheels, Alpine audio | $46,300 MSRP |
| Willys 392 (Feb 12, 2026) | 470-hp V8 with Willys styling | $69,995 MSRP |
| Rockslide (Mar 12, 2026) | Blue accents, Anvil hardtop, on Sahara and Rubicon | $695 over a comparable model |
| Rewind (Apr 12, 2026) | Retro graphics and gold-accent wheels, based on Willys | $1,900 over a comparable Willys |
| America250 (May 12, 2026) | Bright White with Jean Blue soft-top, based on Willys | $2,095 over a comparable model |
Whitecap, as confirmed by Jeep: it is a package on Sahara and Rubicon models, not a separate trim. Jeep says it draws on the classic CJ-Universal and its Arctic White top. It includes a Bright White hardtop and seven-slot grille, a Bright White 1941 side stripe (plus a hood decal on Rubicon) and an optional Bright White Sky One-Touch powertop. It is offered with the 2.0L turbo or the 3.6L V6 (Stellantis, December 12, 2025). Jeep has not published a production count for it.
2026 Jeep Wrangler Colors
Jeep’s 2026 press kit lists these exterior colors, with official names: Anvil, Black, Bright White, Fathom Blue, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, Hydro Blue, ’41 and Reign. Goldilocks and Joose are new for 2026, and Jeep lists both, plus Earl Grey and Tuscadero, with late availability. Interiors are Black or Black/Mantis Green. Some colors are limited to certain trims or editions. For example, ’41 is the Willys ’41 color, and Jeep said Goldilocks would arrive for the Willys 392 in March 2026 (Stellantis).
2026 Wrangler Safety Ratings and Recalls
The IIHS rates the 2026 Wrangler 4-door as follows:
- Small overlap front: Acceptable overall (driver side Good, passenger side Acceptable), for models built after October 2025
- Moderate overlap front (updated test): Good
- Side (updated test): Good
- Headlights: Marginal or Poor, depending on trim and options
- Pedestrian front crash prevention: Poor (not available on this model)
- Seat belt reminders: Marginal; LATCH ease of use: Good+
As of October 20, 2026, the NHTSA API lists the 2026 Wrangler but shows no published 5-Star ratings. NHTSA lists three 2026 Wrangler recalls (API data): 26V224 (second-row child-seat tether welds), 26V456 (steel wheels that may crack, shared with the Gladiator) and 26V531 (rearview camera image may not display).
Which 2026 Wrangler Trim Makes Sense?
Based on Jeep’s published equipment and prices:
- Lowest price: the 2-door Sport at $36,035.
- Trail use without Rubicon money: the Willys, at $43,755 (2-door) or $45,635 (4-door). Jeep spec sheets list 4.10 axles for Willys and Rubicon.
- Towing or serious rock crawling: a 4-door Rubicon (from $50,535) is the route to the 5,000-lb rating, and every Rubicon gets the 4.0:1 Rock-Trac transfer case.
- V8: the Willys 392 at $69,995 costs $10,000 less than the Moab 392. Both use the same 470-hp engine.
