Updated October 29, 2026. This roundup covers new and recent safety recalls for Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Ford, Ram, Hyundai, Genesis, Subaru, GM, Volkswagen and Land Rover, from the Sienna Hybrid seat recall to the 2026 RAV4 plug-in hybrid power-loss fix. Every number comes from NHTSA recall records as of October 29, 2026.

Quick answer: As of October 29, 2026, the largest recent NHTSA recalls here cover about 239,130 2025-2026 Ram 1500 trucks (rearview camera), 228,367 2022-2026 Toyota Sienna Hybrids (second-row seat backs) and 208,724 older VW Atlas, Tiguan and Audi Q3 SUVs (steering bolt). Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. Recall repairs are free at the dealer.

Sections run from the largest recall to the smallest. Vehicle counts are the manufacturers’ estimates filed with NHTSA, and not every car of a listed model is affected. Your VIN decides it.

How to Check Your Vehicle for Open Recalls

  • Decode your VIN: run it through our VIN decoder. After it decodes, the results include a link to NHTSA’s open-recall lookup.
  • Search NHTSA directly: enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. Newly filed campaigns may not be searchable by VIN right away; several below list the date that starts.
  • Watch your mail: the manufacturer mails a notice to the registered owner, headed “IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL.”
  • Call the dealer: recall repairs are done free at the dealer. Ask whether parts are in stock before you book.

Recall repairs do not depend on warranty coverage. For what the factory warranty covers, see our Toyota warranty guide and Ford warranty guide.

What to Do If Your Vehicle Is on This List

Check your VIN first, since recalls rarely cover every car of a model year. If your car is listed, call the dealer, book the repair and ask about parts. Follow any do-not-drive or park-outside advisory until the fix is done, and keep the repair order as proof the recall was completed.

Frequently Asked Questions About Car Recalls

Are recall repairs free?
Yes, in almost every case. Federal vehicle safety law, which NHTSA enforces, requires the manufacturer to fix a safety defect without charge by repair, replacement or refund, and every recall in this roundup lists a free remedy. The main exception: the free-remedy rule does not apply to a vehicle first sold more than 15 calendar years before the recall notice.
How do I know if my car has a recall?
Manufacturers must mail a recall notice by first-class mail to the registered owner. NHTSA’s rules require the letter to open with “IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL” in capital letters and to show your VIN. You can also check any time by entering your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or decode it with our VIN decoder, which links to NHTSA’s open-recall lookup.
Can I drive a car with an open recall?
It depends on the recall. NHTSA flags the most urgent campaigns with “Do Not Drive” or “Park Outside” advisories. In this roundup, Subaru campaign 26V685000 carries a do-not-drive advisory, and Genesis campaign 26V664000 tells owners to park outdoors. For other recalls, follow the precautions in your owner letter, which NHTSA’s rules require it to list, and book the repair.
What if the dealer has no parts?
When a fix is not ready, the manufacturer sends an interim letter and must send a second notice once the remedy is available. After that, if a repair is not done adequately within a reasonable time, federal law requires a free replacement or a refund less depreciation; failure to repair within 60 days of presenting the vehicle is treated as evidence of that. You can also report the problem to NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

Data Sources and Verification

Recall data changes as manufacturers amend filings. Confirm your own vehicle by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls before acting.
