Exterior Design
I love the black grill on the black paint. We’ve got those unique ornaments; they look like sabre teeth. The daytime running lights and the 22-inch wheels are impressive. We have power-extending running boards and cool door handles.
These do not come out; there’s just a button. Can you see the button? It’s just a button; they do not come out. As you see, those power-running boards look great.
Features
That black-on-black looks great. The 22-inch wheels and air suspension add to the classic luxury. The 600 badging on the back stands for torque in the Cadillac Way. Dual exhaust and tow hook cover are also present. Yes, air suspension and dual exhaust are included.
The 600 badging stands for Newton-meter torque, as Cadillac likes to do. We can pop the top glass, which is very calm on certain SUVs. We have our tow hooks covered, as it is a luxury SUV thing to do. This can tow up to 8,200 lbs. I love that big Cadillac button.
Interior Space
As expected, a significant amount of space is behind the third row. It is an Escalade, after all. Let’s see what’s underneath—no real space exists, but power folding seats are included. We will get in and check out the interior room. This has an AKG sound system with 33 speakers—crazy!
Interior Features
There is a perfect amount of cubby space here: two cup holders, a little square pocket, and USB and USB-C ports. Then here, it’s hard to see, but there is a slot for your phone with a wireless charging pad. It charged my phone with the case, which is fantastic. I love not having to take my case off.
I slide it in there, and it’s charging my phone. We have an excellent box in the centre console that works very well. I love the Auburn leather on this spec; it is beautiful. We have four-zone climate control, lovely pop-out cup holders, HDMI cable outlets for the entertainment systems back here, two USB-C chargers, and what looks like a household 120-volt outlet.
It is an entirely flat floor back here with lots of room. This seat is pushed all the way forward, as is mine.
Driving Experience
Alright, this drive from Vancouver to Whistler, actually from our house outside of Vancouver to Whistler, is 2 hours. It’s about 150 to 200 km, somewhere in there, on a winding mountain and oceanside highway. This Escalade feels surprisingly good for its size on this winding highway. Of course, the acceleration is excellent.
2024 Cadillac Escalade Engine
This is a 6.2L V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It is a 10-speed automatic transmission and can tow up to 8,200 lbs. You can get a rear-wheel drive, but this is the four-wheel drive. In Canada, the Escalade is four-wheel drive as standard.
The V is the supercharged extra-performance Escalade, which is not this one, but it is super fun. I was in that one about two years ago, which carries forward into 2025 with the new redesign, as does this 6.2L V8.
Comfort and Technology
I like the ride height in the Escalade. It feels as tall as that Range Rover I was in a few weeks ago. You feel in control, very high up, with excellent visibility on the road, in traffic, and on the highway. It’s comfortable, with very adjustable seats, headrests, and everything else to make it comfortable for anybody at any height.
Yes, I know the 2025 gets a pillar-to-pillar 55-inch screen, and I’m here for it. I love big screens, but this is pretty great too. Wireless CarPlay, Wi-Fi hotspot, and all your settings are right here. It’s a nice responsive touchscreen.
The CarPlay is only about this big, so it’s disappointing to me regarding the amount of space it takes up on this big screen. I played Passenger quite a bit this week, and reaching the audio, home button, and CarPlay everything from the passenger seat is a little awkward. It’s far away.
I do appreciate the hard-touch climate controls. I love that it’s just tap down and tap up. I love that simplicity. I love this gearshift knob. We have a good backup camera with a 360 view, which is very helpful as this is a big car. It does have park assist, but I’ve not had a chance to play with it. Nice big leather steering wheel, and of course, from this and this, you can see we have Super Cruise. We’ve used it this week, and it works fantastic on the highway.
Plateau
The Platinum trim level is the best. It has the most high-end features and technology. Some features are:

● There are 36 speakers in the AKG Studio Reference sound system.

That means hands-free adaptive cruise control, and I do appreciate it. I am here for it. Of course, we have our two high, four high, and four low drive modes on this side. Then, there are just some basic controls for the screen over here. You can use this dial to control the screen as well. Our auto hold and our auto start-stop are over here as well.
