Overview of the 2025 Chevy Silverado 3500 LTZ Troll Boss

Introduction The 2025 Chevy Silverado 3500 LTZ

I recently came across the 2025 Chevy Silverado 3500 LTZ Troll Boss and have been thinking about whether it makes more sense for Chevy to offer only the Trail Boss and LTZ trims. There seems to be a minimal price difference between this truck and the LT, but the features you get with the LTZ more than make up for it.

Colour and Appearance

What do you think about Sterling Gray Metallic? I still prefer Slate Gray, but it’s a good colour. The blackout on the front end looks perfect with the LTZ trim.

Lighting and Exterior Features

●       Premium Lighting: The truck has reflective-style housing on the top and bottom, projector-style headlights, and animations when locked and unlocked.

●       Trail Boss Package: This includes blackout on the grille and bowtie, a front camera with a sprayer, red recovery hooks, and parking sensors. The trimming below is also blacked out, with active grille shutters and a blacked-out Z71 badge.

●       Hood Scoop: Black appearance, functional with the diesel engine.

●       Black Treatment for Badges: This is the first time the Allison and Duramax badges will be available in 2025, but only for this trim.

Wheels

The new wheels for the Trail Boss are 20 inches in length and come with BF Goodrich tyres.

Tires and Suspension

Trail Boss Package Tires

The Trail Boss package includes LT 275/65R20 tyres, which can handle up to 3,750 lbs at 80 psi. The tyres have a nice look and are the K3s model. The truck also features RRO shocks, which you can see the top of, and an independent front suspension. Additionally, there’s an engine block heater and plastic fender flares with black badging.

Exterior Features

●       Painted Door Handles: The truck has painted door handles and an intelligent key system for the front doors.

●       Side View: Unlike the LT models I’ve reviewed, this model does not have fixed running boards. However, you can get power running boards for the 2025 LTZ.

●       Bed and Fuel Tanks: It has a 6’ 10″ bed, side steps, a 36-gallon fuel tank, and a 7-gallon DEF tank.

Why Skip the LT Model?

One primary reason to skip the LT model is that it doesn’t come with a bed liner, even as an option from the factory. You’d have to buy it separately.

Wheels and Suspension

The wheels are 8.5 inches wide and have an excellent design. The suspension setup is similar to that of non-Trail Boss trucks, featuring Ranch shocks.

Tail Lights and Rear Features

●       LED Tail Lights: More trucks, including the 2024 refresh models, are delivered with full LED tail lights.

●       Reverse Lights: The truck has LED reverse lights, more steps, parking sensors, a black bumper, and a Class 5 hitch.

●       Trailer Features: It includes camera inputs for your trailer and a seven-pin connector.

●       Multi-Flex Tailgate: This tailgate acts as a step and includes a handle. The truck does not have the fifth-wheel prep package but a stamped bowtie, bed lights, 400 watts of power, and a bed view camera at the top.

Functional Tailgate and Spare Tyre

The tailgate on this 2025 Chevy Silverado is functional and affordable. It has a regular spare tyre on a steel wheel and a Michelin tyre matching the car’s. The rear end is a 3.42 with an automatic locker.

Side View and Badging

The tried-and-true Duramax engine specs are almost second nature to me now. Let’s take a quick look under the hood.

Under the Hood (Engine)

The functional hood scoop allows air to flow into the intake, with a separator for water on one side. This truck has the Gen 2 L5P Duramax 6.6L engine, producing 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a 10-speed Allison transmission.

The LTZ trim offers a lot of comfort and convenience:

●       Seating: The driver’s seat has a 10-way power adjustment. However, unlike the LT trim, you won’t get power-adjustable mirrors or seat memory features.

●       Technology: The truck features a 13.4-inch display and a 12.3-inch gauge cluster screen. It includes cruise control, which can be adjusted for adaptive settings, and the screen can be customized to show Apple CarPlay or camera views.

●       Storage: The center console has multiple storage compartments and a wireless charger for convenience.

The back seat is spacious, with a 60/40 bench, drop-down headrests, armrests with cup holders, and heating capabilities for the outboard seats.

Door Card and Seating

The LTZ’s door card is very similar to the LT’s but with some differences. The LTZ does not have power-adjustable mirrors in tow mode, so you must adjust them manually. It also lacks seat memory functions. However, both trims have a 10-way driver’s seat and a telescoping steering wheel.

Drive Modes and Controls

GM pickups are known for their fantastic auto four-wheel drive. The truck has an electronic parking brake and three drive modes: normal, tow/haul, and off-road. All the lighting controls are conveniently located.

Passenger Side and Dashboard

The LTZ trim offers some advantages over the LT, such as perforated leather seats. The dashboard features soft-touch materials and additional storage. The 2025 Chevy Silverado also has a Bose sound system, which is unavailable on the LT.

Rear Seating and Storage

The rear seats are a 60/40 bench with drop-down headrests and an armrest with cup holders. The outboard seats are heated, with two USB ports, air vents, and more cup holders. Seatback pockets are available on both sides, and there’s only a slight hump in the middle.

Back in the Driver’s Seat

Finally, back in the driver’s seat, you can see the animations on the display. The 2025 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss badge is a nice touch, even if it was an effort.

Feel free to share more parts of your article; I’ll continue adjusting it!

Interior Technology and Features

Display Screens

The 2025 Chevy Silverado 3500 LTZ Trail Boss has a 13.4-inch display split screen and a 12.3-inch gauge cluster screen. The steering wheel has various controls, including cruise control. This truck features adaptive cruise control, which you can switch to regular cruise control by holding down a button.

Customizable Screens

The LTZ trim offers a fully customizable screen. You can display Apple CarPlay, camera views, and more. The frontal camera can be viewed on a broader screen, and you can switch between different camera views, including the rear and front cameras. You can also zoom into your conventional hitch.

Backup Camera and Lines

When you reverse the 2025 Chevy Silverado, you can access the bed view camera and turn on the backup line. The backup lines are visible in different views, and there’s a line for the back of your trailer.

Additional Features

Heads-Up Display

Although this 2025 Chevy Silverado doesn’t have it, the LTZ trim offers a heads-up display.

Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System

If ordering your 2025 Chevy Silverado, get the trailer tyre pressure monitoring system sensors from the factory. They cost about $50 from the factory but can be much more expensive if purchased later. This system shows the tyre pressure and temperature, which helps tow a trailer.

Interior Controls and Features

Buttons and Controls

Here are some of the buttons you’ll find inside the truck:

●       Exhaust Brake

●       Lane Keep Assist Alert

●       Parking Sensors: Front and rear, which you can disable.

●       Tailgate Control: You can drop the tailgate from inside the 2025 Chevy Silverado but can’t lift it back up with the Multi-Flex tailgate; you can only lift it back up with the standard tailgate.

●       Caution Lights

●       Traction Control: You can disable this.

●       Downhill Assist

●       Dual Climate Control

●       Ventilated Seats: These work amazingly well.

●       Trailer Brakes

Center Console and Storage

The center console in this 2025 Chevy Silverado is well thought out, offering more storage and a hidden wireless charger. There are two USB ports and a 120-volt power plug. The storage is more profound compared to other models. However, Chevy doesn’t offer massage seats, which is a big deal for me and my wife.

Additional Features

●       HomeLink: Located up top.

●       Sliding Rear Glass: With defrost, which is essential for some people.

●       Sunroof: This is an option for $995, but there is still no twin panel.

Payload and Towing Capacity

Payload

Chevy Silverado 2025 Payload
Chevy Silverado 2025 Payload

Let’s talk about the payload of the 2025 Chevy Silverado. This truck might have more payload because it doesn’t have the running boards or the fifth-wheel prep package. The gross axle rating up front is 5,600 lbs, and the rear is 7,250 lbs. The gross vehicle weight rating is 12,100 lbs, and the wheels are 20 by 8.5 inches wide. The previous Chevy Silverado I reviewed had a payload of 3,811 lbs. I expected this truck to have closer to 4,000 kg because of the missing fifth-wheel prep package and running boards, adding a couple hundred pounds.

Towing Capacity

●       Conventional Towing: 20,000 lbs

●       Gooseneck Towing: 21,600 lbs

●       Gross Combined Weight Rating: 30,000 lbs

Trail Boss Package

The 2025 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss package is a welcome addition. It has a relaxed look with black bumpers and different colors. If you get a black truck, you still get black bumpers. However, they could have done more. The main additions are the decal on the bed and the black bumpers, which you can also get on the ZR2. The black badges are unique to this trim; you also get red recovery hooks.
